Manteca's Bass Pro Shops was founded by Johnny Morris, who first sold fishing tackle from his dad's Liquor Store in Springfield in 1972. As a World War II veteran, Morris' father often brought the family hunting and fishing. He has said his parents, Genny Morris and John A. Morris, taught him to love fishing, hunting, and nature. In 1974, Bass Pro Shops in Manteca created their first catalog. As the first package that included a boat, motor, and trailer designed specifically for anglers, Morris Boats introduced Tracker Boats in 1978.
History
